If you want long term reliability, go with less complicated; I have a 2005 Civic EX with the 4 speed auto, the 1.7L engine in it is adequate, plenty of power for every day driving, and I still average in the high 30's with the automatic seeing as high as 40 on a long distance trip, I was able to get 500 miles to a tank of fuel.
The main thing that kills hybrid batteries is age and the vehicle sitting unused. Hence my golden rules are: Avoid buying a hybrid that is over 10 years old - most of these batteries are rated to last about 8 years but they do often last much longer. In saying so anything over 10 years is really a bonus.
Robert T. April 9, 2020. The battery in a hyundai sonata hybrid is expected to last between 6 and 10 years on average. Like. (1) Wayne May 19, 2023. Our 2014 Sonata Hybrid battery just died less than 9 years. Now the struggle is to actually find a OEM battery. Most are aftermarket and/or refurbished.
76. There's plenty of fear, uncertainty, and doubt about electric cars and the potential risk of battery fires, but the regular old 12 V battery is responsible for Toyota issuing a recall for more
We've had our 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid MAX Limited for almost 2 weeks now and haven't found anything to complain about, besides having a new car note of course. Stormcloud is a beautiful color, which it's true color is really hard to capture in photos, but looks amazing under any lighting condition.
It seems Toyota rep is in contact with him to reach out when the 2009 Prius Hybrid hits 1 million mark. Summary: Hybrid cars (especially Toyota RAV4 or Prius) are the BEST for reliability and fuel efficiency and never have any mechanical repair/starting issues - SIMPLY THE BEST - very satisfied. 2.
I have a Rav4 hybrid, it is supposed to turn off after 1 hour. From the manual, The hybrid system will automatically shut off after approximately 1hour if it has been left running while the shift lever is in P. 1. r/Toyota.
IIRC you can replace the battery in a Prius for under $1000 these days and they're warrantied for at least 160,000km, with a good percentage of them lasting multiple times that. For comparisons sake, a Golf needs a DSG service costing that much every 60,000km. You'll do that several times before an equivalent Prius battery needs replacement.
typically the warranty gives you an estimate of the approximate lifespan of the hybrid battery. 100k or 10 years, whichever comes first. gotta love that planned obsolescence. Graffy • 6 yr. ago. I don't think it's planned obsolescence battery technology is limited.
Newer, better, larger batteries in modern cars should last twice as long - 20 or 30 years. Much longer than the average on-road life of cars today. Not all cars will last 20 to 30 years. Half of them will have to be taken off the road by year 15, while the battery will be fine.
